Ice cream machine preventative maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance is imperative if you want to get the best out of your machine.

Any down time is the biggest potential cost to your business in the ice cream industry, so it’s important to be proactive in taking good care of your in-demand machines with preventive maintenance.

Simply put, you can’t neglect your ice-cream machine.

How do you maintain Ice Cream Machines?

Although the maintenance of your machine can take up a bit of time and effort, once you develop good preventive maintenance habits, they will become second nature to you and your staff.

Throughout your busiest months, a regular cleaning schedule is vital. Without one, you can expect reduced capacity which means you might not be able to keep up with the seasonal demand. This can be hugely important when trying to maximise your high-season sales.

Preventative Steps

Below are a few steps to take when it comes to preventative maintenance for your ice cream machinery:

  1. Before beginning wash your hands and switch off the machine in question

  2. Drain and empty any product mix

  3. Pour in clean water and rinse the hoppers before draining

  4. Repeat this process with a sanitiser or cleaning agent

  5. Repeat step 3 with clean water once or twice more to thoroughly rinse out the machine

  6. Disassemble all other small parts and clean, as well as cleaning outside of machine where necessary

  7. Replace everything, tidy up and wash hands again to finish
