What is the difference between single phase and three phase power ice cream machines?

Essentially, single-phase power has just one live wire and three-phase power has three.

Single-phase power is what generally runs through most residential and commercial businesses.

Three-phase power has three phases of power currents running through the building and can typically be found in industrial-sized businesses. The power outlets usually have more consistent power throughout.

We have both single and three phase machines available.

SHOULD I CHOOSE SINGLE OR 3 PHASE APPLIANCES?

To decide power type, you need to check the existing set-up you have installed. If you’re not sure what power you require, we recommend asking a professional electrician. A three-phase ice cream machine is more energy efficient, so for that reason it can be the better option if available but not all buildings will have three phase power. All locations have single phase power, and most commercial locations will have 3 phase but older buildings may not.

What happens if I choose the wrong power type?

You may not be able to connect the appliance at all. 3 phase/hardwired appliances are not supplied with a plug. Likewise, if your kitchen is hardwired throughout, there may not be any sockets to plug other appliances in.
